This week I have the honor of hosting the dance floor at the Shamrock Shimmy at the Sacramento Children’s Museum — a joyful, sensory-friendly event created especially for children with special needs and their families.
As a neurodivergent human, a mom to a sensitive child, and someone who has spent years working as a caregiver for disabled adults, it means so much to be part of creating spaces where every child can move, play, and experience music in their own way!
These kinds of gatherings remind me of the Irish and Celtic festivals I grew up attending as a kid — places filled with music, dancing, laughter, and community. Those memories still inspire the musical experiences I try to create for families today!
For the Shamrock Shimmy, I’ll be hosting the dance floor alongside the wonderful local Irish band, The Celtic Charms, bringing instruments, scarves, and lots of opportunities for kids and families to dance and make music together!
To keep the celebration going at home, I’ve put together the Shamrock Shimmy Dance Party playlists so families can continue the fun anytime!
I curated this 1 hour and 20 minute playlist to follow the same kind of energy flow we use in our music classes and dance gatherings… By starting with songs that gradually build excitement and movement, then move into high-energy dance favorites, and finally finish with a few slower songs to help bring everyone back to a calm, balanced place.
This playlist is designed so you can press play and enjoy a full little home dance party with your family from beginning to end! 🎶
Hope to dance with you soon,
Ms. Ariel @ My Musical Village
